March 11th, 2000

Our builder told us the roof sheathing was going a bit slower than he thought it would. But, with a 12/12 pitch roof, it would be a difficult job. One worker fell off the roof, but he is ok. in addition to the sheathing, they also had to create and build the overhang on the roof. They also completed the covering of the porch.

Cindy and I decided to have the builder wrap the porch around to the deck and to the end of the front of the house. The porch will remain screened and access to the deck and porch extension will be through screened doors. The porch extension will have a post and rail identical to the porch. This will keep it all looking consistent. Once completed, we will cover the under area of the porch with green lattice work. This will make the exterior look much better. The alternative is to look at the cement columns.

We managed to figure a way to use the steel beams to our advantage. When they are boxed in with wood, we can place the light and fan switches on the wood portion of the beam. In this way, we won't need to route out the logs for the electrical wiring. This will save time and labor money.

Next week they will finish sheathing the roof with plywood.

Thanks for being part of our dream.
