March 18th, 2000

The roof sheathing is complete. Some more work is needed on the overhang, but that should be completed this week. The porch roof is complete and looks great! Inside the house, they had started to clean some of the logs and beams. They also started cleaning the tounge and groove that will go on the floor of the second floor.

We failed our building framing and roof framing inspections, but we expected as much. Since our blueprints are very "general" we expected that the inspector will have some recommendations and requirements that were not on the plans. We met with our builder and went over the requests the inspector made.

We recevied the second french slider, and if you remember we were planning on painting them to match the windows. Well, the grilles for the sliders are in between the two panes of glass, making them impossible to paint. So we went to Lowes and purchased two sets of wooden double french doors. They will have screens and will actually be better than the original sliders. Both sides of the french doors can be opened allowing more airflow thru the house.

We also had to purchase a new kitchen sink. The old famer style sink has a backsplash lip that would have protruded above the kitchen window. So we purchased a version of the same sink that does not have the lip.

Next week they will finish roof.

Thanks for being part of our dream.
