December 19th, 1999We have decided to fire our building consultants R & R Enterprises for lack of performance. We feel they have taken too long to arrange for sub contractors and have not lived up to the contractial agreements. We have decided to locate sub-contractors on our own, and Mark Dettmer from Casual Country Log Homes, has been nice enough to inform us that he will be glad to come down and instruct any sub-contractors in "Log construction". Cindy and I looked at the construction manual and the construction overlay. It doesn't look hard at all. All the logs are numbered and the overlay tells you exactly where they go. We have met with two subs who want to take on this project and are currently awaiting their bids.
The issues with R & R Enterprises have been very stressful for both Cindy and I. It has caused much tension for this project and we both
feel it was in our best interests and in the best interest of the project to fire them. Now that Cindy and I
have learned MUCH about construction and contractors we feel very strongly that we can handle this ourselves. We actually already have.
Cindy and I hired the fill people, the electrician, located a plumber, and two subs interested in assembly. R & R found R L Geck, but it's not like we could not
of found them on our own (They just let their fingers do the walking.) So in essence we've done most of the work already ourselves.
The path ahead is not without it's obstables, but we are ready to handle them. We have been through many pitfalls in this project and none of them
have discouraged us.
More next week.
