The Timeline as been restructed into reverse order, so the more recent events are at the top of the page.
July 2000
  • (July 23rd) WE MOVED IN!.
June 2000
  • (June 7th) We passed our Insulation inspection.
  • (June 3rd) Downstairs Shower is installed.
  • (June 3rd) Toilets are installed.
  • (June 1st) We passed our septic inspection.
May 2000
  • (May 27th) Roof shingling is done.
  • (May 26th) Septic gets hydroseeded.
  • (May 25th) Ceiling T & G covering begins.
  • (May 25th) Kitchen Counter top was installed.
  • (May 10th) Appliances were delivered.
  • (May 8th) We passed our Building Framing Inspection.
  • (May 8th) We passed our Framing Anchors Inspection.
  • (May 8th) We passed our Roof Metal Inspection.
  • (May 8th) We passed our Roof Sheathing Inspection.
  • (May 8th) We passed our Electrical Inspection.
  • (May 8th) We passed our Electrical Inspection.
  • (May 5th) Kitchen cabinets were delivered.
  • (May 5th) We passed our A/C inspection.
  • (May 3rd) We failed our A/C inspection.
  • (May 1st) The Great room windows are installed.
April 2000
  • (Apr 29th) We met with people regarding seeding the septic area.
  • (Apr 26th) We passed Footer inspection for porch extention
  • (Apr 17th) Septic System is installed
  • (Apr 11th) We passed the Plumbing Inspection
  • (Apr 4th) Electrical work is started
  • (Apr 4th) Plumbing work begins
  • (Apr 1st) Roof dry-in is completed
March 2000
  • (Mar 29th) Window trim.
  • (Mar 29th) Windows go in.
  • (Mar 20th) Stud wall framing begins
  • (Mar 17th) We failed our roof framing and building framing inspections.
  • (Mar 17th) Roof Sheathing is complete
  • (Mar 11th) The roof sheathing is partially completed.
  • (Mar 11th) The porch roof is in place.
  • (Mar 5th) The roof framing is completed.
  • (Mar 5th) The porch log beams were installed along with the rough stairs for the porch.
  • (Mar 3rd) The Steal I-Beams were delivered and installed using a large crane.
February 2000
  • (Feb 26th) The Gable Ends are completed
  • (Feb 26th) The well is installed.
  • (Feb 26th) Dan's Birthday
  • (Feb 21th) The area around the house was graded
  • (Feb 19th) The Beams have been installed for the second floor.
  • (Feb 19th) The Porch has been framed
  • (Feb 19th) Gable ends were started.
  • (Feb 11th) We have walls!!!
  • (Feb 5th) We arrange to order the Great Room windows.
  • (Feb 5th) We have a sub Floor..
  • (Feb 3rd) We failed the Floor Framing Inspection.
  • (Feb 1st) We passed our slab and column inspections.
January 2000
  • (Jan 27th) We failed slab and column inspections (again) No letter from engineer.
  • (Jan 10th) We passed the Shed installation inspection.
  • (Jan 8th) Shed arrives.
  • (Jan 7th) We failed slab and column inspection (again). Plans were stolen
  • (Jan 1st) We hire palm Beach Creative Developers.
December 1999
  • (Dec 29th) Slab gets poured for crawlspace.
  • (Dec 28th) We failed Slab inspection and Column Inspection, but inspector lets us proceed pending engineer letter.
  • (Dec 25th) CBS Block construction for the Crawlspace started.
  • (Dec 17th) We fired our builder R & R Enterprises.
  • (Dec 17th) Footers were poured.
  • (Dec 5th) We passed the Footer inspection.
  • (Dec 3rd) We failed our Footer Inspection.(As expected)
  • (Dec 2nd) FPL installed Power.
November 1999
  • (Nov 30th) Foundation work begins
  • (Nov 21th) We received our Recorded Notice of Commencement
  • (Nov 15th) We received word that we passed the density test.
  • (Nov 13th) Our Temporary Electric Pole was moved to improve line-of-sight to the power pole.
  • (Nov 13th) We met with Ron from Sandron Electric for a quote on our electrical.
  • (Nov 13th) We learned that the Base logs which were to be pre-grooved, were not.
  • (Nov 12th) We sent in our letter of commencement.
  • (Nov 10th) Our Temporary Electric Pole goes in.
  • (Nov 10th) We learn that we needed to submit a "Notice of Commencement" letter. oops.
  • (Nov 10th) We arrange for the Density test of the foundation pad.
  • (Nov 5th) Our log package arrives, we get the foundation pad put in, and we meet Charles and Michael from R & R enterprises
January 1998
  • Sent in a 10% deposit on the log home package.
  • Oh yes, more changes. (ooh French Doors in the dining area)

November 1997
  • New member of the family. Daisy the Hamster.
  • and of course....more changes.
October 1997
  • Bought two pedistal sinks.
  • Made some more changes.
  • Found the wood floor we wanted at Authentic Pine Floors.
  • Did I mention more changes?
  • Cindy moves in with Dan
  • Bought Bathroom and Bedroom Tile
  • Pansy the hamster died. :(
July 1997
  • (July 25th) On one knee, Dan proposes his love for Cindy, and asks her to marry him.
  • More changes to our plans.
June 1997
  • (June 28th) We visit Casual Country Log homes and finally meet Mark and Donna Rae Detmer.
  • We made some changes to our plans.
May 1997
  • (May 2nd) Dan and Cindy close on their 1.33 acre lot of land in Loxahatchee (The Acreage)
April 1997
  • We decided to buy the land.
March 1997
  • We received information about Southland log homes from Casual Country Log Homes.
  • Not satisfied with any log home packages, we design our own home.
  • We found a piece of land. 1.33 acrea in Loxahatchee.
February 1997
  • We contacted Casual Country Log Homes in Sanford, Florida.
  • Started our search for land up in Palm Beach County
